45-minute of online presentations about certain global issues by both national and international speakers. This Circular Design Futures session will be exploring design as daily practical to solve problems, from material to social structure.
Mai Nguyen is a maker, designer & creative entrepreneur, & the leader of Fablab Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City’s first makerspace. She is at the helm of INGO, a social venture enabling Vietnamese youth to connect with their cultural heritage through re-imagined hands-on experiences.
Recently Mai is one of the 6 circular designers from South East Asia selected to join the Circular Futures Lab, a new programme developed by British Council in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to support a more positive and circular future for the making and design sectors globally.
Zoe Powell from Materiom is a materials researcher & designer who focuses on materials and processes in collaboration with communities. Over the years she has explored a multitude of biomaterial, digital and craft fabrication techniques, creatively using resources and tools in parallel with circular design strategies. She has taken part in regional & global projects, teaching at various educational institutions and working with startups, community groups, designers, architects, engineers and scientists.
